A new report by Halifax has showed the seaside town in Yorkshire - 20 miles away from Hull - is the most affordable coastal location in England and Wales.
All of the ten most affordable seaside towns for residential property can be found in the north of England.
The average price of a home there is £91,360, which could mean a residential mortgage deposit will not be as out of reach for people as they first think.
House prices in Padstow, Cornwall saw the biggest surge, with the average house price there increasing from £135,677 to £421,954 between 2001-09, the survey found.
Commenting on the report, Martin Ellis, housing economist at Halifax, said: "Whilst property in seaside towns can be more expensive than elsewhere, exceptional value for many can still be found for those searching to realise their dream of living near the sea."
